These tools didn't just provide support – they also boosted confidence. Nearly 39% of Americans felt more self-assured tackling math tasks with ChatGPT compared to traditional methods, and 30% said math games or interactive tools made them feel more capable. The idea of game-based learning appealed to 62% of Americans, who said math games would have made them more motivated to learn when in school.

Methodology

We surveyed 1,004 Americans in November 2024 to explore the prevalence and causes of math anxiety. The generational breakdown of respondents was as follows: Gen Z (18%), millennials (50%), Gen X (26%), and baby boomers (7%). Due to rounding, percentages may not total 100 in this study.
